Laura Moreau Springfield Township Supervisor

About Laura

Laura Moreau moved to Springfield Township with her husband and young family in 2004 and quickly became an active member of the community. Laura got to work serving as president of her homeowners association and volunteering with a local land conservancy, her church, and other community groups. After representing her neighborhood HOA on a community lighting proposal and an amendment to the development legal documents, Laura's professionalism and thorough, effective presentations caught the attention of long-time Clerk Nancy Strole. With the recommendation of former Supervisor Collin Walls and concurrence of the Township Board, Laura was appointed to serve on the Township Planning Commission in September 2007.

In May of 2008, Laura announced her run for Township Clerk. Nancy Strole planned to retire and, in a field of five candidates, offered her strong support and official endorsement to Laura Moreau. Laura earned the endorsement of The Clarkston News and the backing of many Township officials and residents. That wave of support resulted in a landslide win at the August 2008 Primary Election.

Laura Moreau served as Springfield Township Clerk for 12 years, proving her hard work and commitment to Springfield Township and delivering on the goals and priorities that earned the support of our community. Then with the retirement of former Supervisor Collin Walls in 2020, Laura announced her run for supervisor, winning the election handily in the August primary.

Since November 2020, Laura continues to demonstrate her dedication to the goals and priorities of our community. Through hard work, vision, and perseverance, Laura has helped advance public safety, elevate the Dixie Corridor, revitalize downtown Davisburg, enhance municipal services and facilities, steward our natural assets, and build community.

Laura is a member of the Oakland County Association of Township Supervisors, Michigan Townships Association, and Michigan Association of Planning. She serves on the Road Commission for Oakland County Safety Action Planning Committee and has also served as Secretary for the Oakland County Chapter of Michigan Townships Association, Board Member for the Holly Area Youth Assistance, and President of the Westwood Hills Homeowners Association.

Prior to serving as a Springfield Township official, Laura worked in marketing for a media company in Troy and as a recruiter/admissions counselor at Wayne State University. Laura has also worked as an instructor of communication at Oakland Community College, Wayne State University, and Rochester University. Laura earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Walsh College and a Master of Arts in Speech Communication from Wayne State University.

Laura has been married to her husband Peter for 26 years and has two children, Jacob and Lucy. Jacob graduated from Holly High School in 2018 and Michigan Technological University in 2024. Lucy graduated from Holly High School in 2021 and will start her senior year at Northern Michigan University in the fall.
